Gina as the character “Fear” in poet Camille Roy’s play, Bye Bye Brunhilde, which premiered at San Francisco’s New Langton Arts in 1991 and went on to tour to WOW Café Theatre in New York City and return for a second run in San Francisco at Theatre Rhinoceros.

X Poetics Interview with Gina by Robin Tremblay-McGraw about her experience acting in experimental theater.

RTM: How did you get involved with experimental theater? What got you interested in it?

Gina: My parents directed annual “Happenings” at the Ringling Museum’s Asolo Theater when I was little. In San Francisco, my mother and her friends were involved with Anna Halprin’s Dancer’s Workshop and she taught Spanish at San Francisco Mobile School, which was a junior high founded by members of the experimental Firehouse Theater who believed that travel was the bedrock of education. The school was located in the building that is now Urban High. I got serious about acting at age 13…
